Freshmen Registration for the 2023-2024 school year

Elective course registration for 2023-2024 freshmen will take place when GJHS visits the middle schools. Information on elective and academy options are presented at Eagle Fest and information and video links posted above. Parents and students are encouraged to review elective choices prior to their middle school visit. Please see the GJHS middle school visit schedule below. Academic courses are assigned based on current academic courses, grades, and testing data. Elective courses are chosen by the student and parent/guardian.

Middle school registration visits:
• Students will complete their paper registration form
• Academic are listed, but not selected
• A carbon copy will be sent home with the student to review with their parent/guardian
• If a change needs to be made, electives can be re-submitted using this Google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/ through March 3rd.
• The form can be re-submitted as many times as needed, and the last dated submission will be used
• Students will receive an auto reply to the school email address provided confirming their elective choices
• Private school students or new elective course registration form: https://docs.google.com/forms/
*Private school students may begin enrolling on June 1st. Check Polk School enrollment page for required documents (link to enrollment page https://polkschoolsfl.com/enroll/ ) Students complete the online registration form to request elective courses. Use a personal email and a phone number or random number for student ID#. For Academic placement, the course history, grades, and available testing data is reviewed. Please use the comments box on the registration form to leave input or insight on academic placement.*
In May, students will be able to access all their courses on Student Portal. Look for an email from GJHS with directions on how to view these courses and a new link on how to request any changes. Requested changes must be submitted prior to the end of the school year. We are unable to make course changes once schedules are completed over the summer. Schedules will be ready for distribution at Freshman Orientation in August.
Upperclassmen Registration grades 10 – 12 for the 2023-2024 school year
Elective course registration will take place Feb 21st – 27th Academic courses follow a District Progression Plan for each subject area based on current course, course grades, and testing data. Students will choose their elective courses using a Google document online registration form. Students will have an opportunity to complete the form at school or may choose to complete it at home with their parents.

Directions for completing registration form Feb 21-27:
• Students will need their school email address to enter on the form
• Academics are assigned based on current courses, grades, and testing data and are not on this form
• Academy or top choice elective should be entered as #1 choice
• Select a total of 6 elective choices in priority order
• Consider graduation requirements (fine arts, HOPE)
• Remember academic rigor required for college (including 2 courses in Foreign Language). Academic courses can be selected in addition to those assigned to meet graduation requirements
• Use the comments box in the last section to make any academic requests on levels or provide insight into scheduling academic courses
• Students will receive an auto reply to the school email address provided confirming their elective choices
• Elective courses may be updated and resubmitted through Feb 27th
• In May, students will be able to access all their courses on Student Portal with one last opportunity to update prior to the end of the school year
Students are encouraged to review course choices with their parent prior to making selections but will be able to resubmit their requests through Monday, Feb 27th. All students must submit an elective registration form or their elective courses will be chosen for them.
